One Patient’s Journey
Myrna Hunt has always taken her health seriously and has never missed a mammogram. When she was diagnosed with breast cancer after a routine mammogram in April, she was thankful for her attention to her own health.
“After reviewing my test results, they saw something abnormal,” said Myrna. “I was set up for a needle biopsy, which confirmed the presence of cancer.”
Myrna underwent a lumpectomy later that month and then received follow-up treatment using MammoSite® five-day targeted partial breast radiation. Now cancer-free, Myrna feels blessed for the care she found at Lakeland HealthCare.“
Everyone at Lakeland was amazing. The level of care I experienced was excellent,” said Myrna. “I was so touched by their compassion that I was inspired to start a journal about my experience from start to finish.”
Due to her experience, Myrna encourages women to go for their annual cancers creenings. When breast cancer is detected early, your chances of survival greatly increase.
“No woman should put a price tag on taking care of her health,” said Myrna. “Undergoing an annual mammogram should be on every woman’s to-do list.”
